What are broadband connection vouchers?

UPDATE: THIS SCHEME IS NOW CLOSED, PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE SUPER-FAST BROADBAND OPTIONS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

The Welsh Government has recognised this need, and made grant funding available to businesses who don’t yet have super-fast broadband in Wales.

The scheme or grant funding has a few names.  Superfast broadband, superconnected cities and connection vouchers are just three.  But the most popular name for the scheme in Wales is Superfast Cymru.

This grant funding means that up to £3,000 of cost is covered by funding.  The scheme currently covers areas of South East Wales, and this round of funding ends 31st March.

We’re an approved supplier working with Digital Cardiff, the Welsh Government and Superfast Cymru, to help businesses in Cardiff, Bridgend, Vale of Glamorgan and Caerphilly get superfast fibre broadband. And if you’re in other areas of Wales, we may be able to help under other schemes.

Our independent tests show the average speed of broadband in South Wales is currently around 5MBPS. After installation, many of our customers are seeing speeds over 80MBPS, a significant jump that translates into business efficiency and growth.

The funding is there to help businesses upgrade without any direct up-front cost.

More information about the scheme

The rollout is set to lead to figures like:

  • 3 years to complete
  • 17,500 km of fibre optic cabling
  • 2,500 jobs created over time
  • Aiming to cover 96% of homes and businesses by 2016
  • That equals over 1.3M premises
  • Possibility of speeds over 100MBPS

So what is fibre broadband?

Fibre broadband basically comes down to two different types of broadband: fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and fibre to the premises (FTTP).

FTTC is the most popular – it uses fibre-optic cables up to the street cabinet. Copper wires connect the cabinet to homes and businesses.

The alternative is FTTP, and this means fibre-optic cables run right to the door of the business. Where this is possible, you could get broadband speed in excess of 100Mbps.

What about the 4% who won’t be covered?

That’s where our tech knowledge comes in.

We are experts in installing satellite broadband – a solution that provides fast broadband to hard to reach areas.

Satellite broadband enables internet and voice connectivity anywhere on the surface of the planet – rural or not.  Using a small dish on the outside of your property, along with a set-top box inside, we can offer you fast broadband, reliably, wherever you are located.

DataLite broadband offers the joint fastest download speed 20Mb, and a fast upload speed of 2Mb with excellent network performance – almost comparable to superfast.
