DataKom Hits 300 BDUK Installations in 2015

DataKom have just connected their 300th broadband installation under the
BDUK scheme in 2015.

The BDUK scheme aims to get superfast broadband to 90% of the UK by 2016, where most people are still on ADSL connections.  Businesses get a grant of up to £3,000 to cover the cost of
installation and hardware such as routers and cabling, and then sign up
for an ongoing contract – comparable to the prices paid for standard
broadband.

DataKom’s 300th customer makes them the number one independent provider
of fibre broadband installations in Wales, under the scheme run by
Digital Cardiff. The company now leads the list of independent
suppliers, having installed the highest number of fibre installations.

This has helped businesses such as KK Solutions, print company in
Bridgend, get connected to superfast broadband.

Ian Jessopp from KK Solutions said:

“As designers and printers we need to send and receive large files. In
the past we experienced often lengthy delays downloading and sending
files. We work to very tight deadlines so something had to be done.
Since installing fibre we have noticed a significant improvement in both
upload and download speeds and as such we operate much more
efficiently”

MD of DataKom Jay Ball said of the scheme:

“The scheme is great for Welsh business. Better broadband means better
efficiency, which makes us more competitive in global markets. Just like
roads and airports – broadband is a key part of our infrastructure”
